The Cyr wheel is an acrobatic apparatus that consists of a single large ring made of aluminum or steel. The performer (acrobat) stands inside the Cyr wheel and grasps its rim, causing it to roll and spin gyroscopically while performing acrobatic moves in and around the rotating wheel. It was first introduced at a Parisian festival in 2003.
There’s a pretty good chance your jaw dropped at some point during this show by DUO UNITY. There’s just something about acrobats that always leaves us amazed. To see what it looks like, check out the video above
They make it look so easy, but it’s definitely an acquired skill, one that came with its fair share of bruises and falls. But they persevered and are now one of the world’s most acclaimed “Cyr wheelists.”
