Jacqueline Du Pre – Elgar / Cello Concerto in E minor

Elgar / Cello Concerto in E minor, is one of the best cello pieces in existence. It seems that when people talk about the cello’s similarity to the human voice, they tend to do so after having heard Elgar’s Cello Concerto.

Here, 1st Movement of Elgar’s Cello Concerto as performed by cellist Jacqueline Du Pre with Daniel Barenboim conducting the London Philharmonic in 1967.

There is over-romanticise and astonishing power in her playing, The way she handles her cello is amazing, it’s almost like watching her dance with a lover.

Her husband, the great pianist and maestro Daniel Barenboim conducts the orchestra.
